Study on Development of Sustained Release Dosage Form of Water Soluble Drug by Solid Dispersion System

Abstract
Abstract-The objection of this study was to develop of sustained release dosage form of water soluble drug by Solid Dispersion System(SDS) which was prepared by Solvent Method with Propranolol-HCI(PPH) as a model drug and also with polymer such
as
Methylcellulose(MC), Ethylcellulose(EC), Hydroxypropylcellulose (HPC) and Hydroxypropylcellulose(HPMC) as carriers.
The IR-spectra and Powder X-ray Diffraction tests were carried out for physicochemical property assessment.
It was found that MC-SDS and EC-SDS exhibited sustained release pattern and showed independent release pattern of pH in Dissolution Medium. The release rate of MC-SDS was slower than that of EC-SDS at early phase. PPH-MC-SDS(1 : 5 ) and
PPH-MC-SDS(1 :
7) showed the linearity as the function of square root of time.
